Sustainability
Every flight counted. Nothing rounded down.
We arrange private charter, and every charter adds carbon to the sky. We estimate the CO₂ of the flights we arrange, show it on your trip record, and push toward sustainable aviation fuel as partnerships mature.
Where we stand
Private aviation has a real footprint.
We won't call a charter flight green. What we can do is make its cost visible and give you the choices that lower it.
An estimate for the flights we arrange
Booked trips carry an estimated CO₂ figure on the trip record. Putting that estimate on every quote, before you book, is the phase we're working on now.
Right-size the aircraft
The largest lever on a charter's footprint is the aircraft. The smallest category that fits your party and range is usually the lowest-carbon choice.
Publish operator data
Operator safety ratings and completed-flight records are public. SAF usage joins them as operators report it.
Show the method
Every figure on this page comes from the versioned method below. When it changes, the version number changes.
The roadmap
Toward sustainable aviation fuel.
Phase 1
NowMeasure every quote
An emissions estimate on every charter quote, with the smallest suitable aircraft shown alongside.
Phase 2
SAF partnerships
Working with SAF producers and FBOs, and routing requests to operators who fuel with SAF as those partnerships mature.
Phase 3
SAF-fueled flights
Let travelers choose a SAF-fueled flight where it's available, priced and labelled clearly.
Phase 4
Full transparency
Operator emissions and SAF-usage data published alongside safety ratings, so travelers weigh the full picture, not just price.
Methodology
How we calculate emissions and our contribution
Version 2026.1
Every emissions figure Valdor shows is an estimate, calculated from aircraft category, great-circle distance and estimated block time using published per-hour fuel-burn figures. Precision is not the goal — an honest order of magnitude is.
The calculation
block hours × fuel burn (gal/hr) × 9.61 kg CO₂/gal
Sources: ICAO Carbon Emissions Calculator Methodology (CO₂ per kilogram of fuel burned); FAA Aircraft Weight and Balance Handbook (Jet-A weight per US gallon).
| Aircraft category | Fuel burn (gal/hr) |
|---|---|
| Turboprop | 130 |
| Very Light Jet | 115 |
| Light Jet | 170 |
| Midsize Jet | 250 |
| Super Midsize Jet | 300 |
| Heavy Jet | 370 |
| Ultra Long Range Jet | 510 |
Block time uses the same duration shown elsewhere on your booking — the feed's own departure and arrival times when available, or a great-circle estimate at typical cruise speed.
This estimate covers CO₂ only. Non-CO₂ aviation forcing — contrails and high-altitude NOₓ, roughly a 2–3× multiplier by some published models — is real and contested, and is excluded from the figure shown rather than folded in under a disputed methodology.
On every paid flight we arrange, Valdor sets aside 5% of our brokerage fee for verified carbon-removal credits. It comes out of our fee, not added to your price — except for Commander members past their annual margin cap, where that climate contribution is the only fee on the flight. A contribution accrues once payment clears.
This ledger began recording accruals on Sep 13, 2026. Empty-leg bookings accepted before that date, and any booking paid before it, carry no contribution record.
Valdor Jets is an air charter broker and indirect air carrier under 14 CFR Part 295. It does not operate aircraft. All flights are operated by FAA Part 135 certificated direct air carriers. Full terms in the Valdor Jets Terms & Conditions.
